Christoph de Babalon – berliński producent, najbardziej znany ze swojej współpracy z wytwórnią Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) należącą do Aleca Empire. Jest również współzałożycielem wytwórni Cross Fade Enter Tainment (CFET).
Po wydaniu kilku czarnych krążków nakładem małych niemieckich wytwórni stał się ulubieńcem Johna Peela i w 1996 r. podpisał kontrakt z DHR. Rok później światło dzienne ujrzał longplay „If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It”. Album został bardzo dobrze przyjęty i zdobył pozytywne recenzje, choć stał w opozycji do innych wydawnictw DHR. Oferował nową wizję muzyki elektronicznej, która znacznie różniła się od tego co tworzyli tacy artyści jak Atari Teenage Riot czy EC8OR. Christoph opuścił DHR po wydaniu epki „Seven UP” by rozpocząć własną działalność wydawniczą.
Charakterystyczne brzmienie Christopha de Babalona to kombinacja ekstremalnej złożoności kompozycyjnej i skrajnie eksperymentalnej formy. Łączy wiele gatunków muzyki elektronicznej, w tym noise, muzykę ilustracyjną, ambient, drum and bass i breakcore. Znany jest także z bardzo długich kompozycji, które niejednokrotnie trwają nawet 15 minut. Jako współzałożyciel wytwórni CFET miał okazję wydawać najbardziej wpływowych producentów ekstremalnej elektroniki, m.in.: Somatic Responses, DJ Scud, Zbigniew Karkowski i Merzbow. W celu zdobycia nowych doświadczeń i inspiracji Christoph de Babalon, zajął się także komponowaniem muzyki filmowej i teatralnej.
Ciekawostką jest, że wielkim fanem muzyki Christopha jest Thom Yorke, wokalista Radiohead, który zaprosił go w 2001 r. do udziału w trasie swojego zespołu po południowej Europie. W czerwcu 2008 roku de Babalon ponownie nawiązał współpracę z Radiohead, aby w Barcelonie, na festiwalu „Daydream” po raz pierwszy zaprezentować publiczności materiał z swojej ostatniej płyty długogrającej „Scylla & Charybdis". Album odnosi się do dawno zapomnianej formuły poematu muzycznego i opowiada historię dwóch pięknych kobiet, które zostały przeklęte i zamienione w morskie potwory.

[Christoph de Babalon is a Berlin based producer, best known for his work on Alec Empire's label Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR). He also is the co-founder of the label Cross Fade Enter Tainment (CFET).
After releasing a handful of 12" releases on smaller Labels in Germany and being heralded as a favorite on John Peel's radio show since 1994, Christoph later signed to DHR in 1996, and later released his only full-length album for the label, „If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It” in 1997. The album was well-received and gained mostly positive reviews, but stood in stark contrast to other DHR releases by offering a new vision of electronic music that differed greatly from that of artists such as Atari Teenage Riot and EC8OR. Christoph left DHR sometime after his „Seven Up” EP, and is now releasing music on his own label CFET, as well as other German labels.
As co-founder of the music label CFET he has been putting out records by influential electronic hardcore producers such as Somatic Responses, DJ Scud, Zbigniew Karkowski and Merzbow (to name but a few) since 1994.
Christoph de Babalon's signature sound is a combination of extreme complexity in construction and complete experimentation in form. Songs span many electronic genres including noise, soundscapes, ambient, drum and bass, and breakcore. His tracks are also known for occasionally being exceptionally long, with durations up to 15 minutes. In order to learn more effective production techniques and gather new experience, he began working on music for theatre productions, dance performances and film.
Also Thom Yorke of Radiohead is a big fan of Christoph de Babalon's music and invited him on a tour through southern europe in 2001. In June 2008 he hooked up with Radiohead again to play the „Daydream” Festival in Barcelona and introduce ,,Scylla & Charybdis" (released in 2008 on CFET) to the public for the first time. The album refers to a long-forgotten formula of musical poem and tells a story of two beautiful women who were cursed to become sea monsters.
