Ian Liddle od zawsze zafascynowany był mechanizmem działania ludzi i zwierząt, tym co niewidoczne i ukryte pod powierzchnia skóry. To pod tą cienką warstwą zaczyna się życie, umożliwiając nam funkcjonowanie i przede wszystkim poruszanie się. Ian Liddle zdziera tą skorupę i pokazuje to co umożliwia życie. Pokazuje czaszkę lub szkielet nie po to by tworzyć skojarzenia ze śmiercią, ale po to by pokazać tajemnicę życia. Pragnie ukazać konstrukcję nośną, która w naturalnym cyklu życia ukazuje się dopiero po śmierci, choć istnieje od początku. Łączymy to ze śmiercią, śmiertelnością tylko dlatego, że staje się widoczna dopiero, gdy zakończy się cykl życia. Staje się dla nas zagrożeniem ponieważ unaocznia naszą śmiertelność.

[Ian Liddle has always been fascinated by the mechanism of human creatures and animals, by the invisible, that lies beneath our thin skin. Under this surface is where real life begins, allowing us to move and function in the first place. Ian Liddle removes this shell and exposes what it is that enables life. He shows a skull or a skeleton without intending to create associations with death but to show the hidden secret of the living. He wants to present the carrying frame which appears in the natural rhythm of life just after death although it exists even before. We connect it with death, mortality, simply because it becomes visible when the cycle of life ends. It becomes a threat that we fear because it exposes our own mortality.
